DSC00512Barry Tippett (13th Beach) returned to the Bachli events with a vengeance, after bypassing the events at his old home course (The Sands) and Lonsdale last week, where last year he was runner up and winner, in favour of the National Seniors event in Tasmania.

One shot off the pace after round 1 he went out in a four under 32, came home 1 over 36 to win the event by 5 shots. Jeff Hasthorpe from Trafalgar was runner up - a fine 73 day one gave him a 1 shot lead and despite Barry's opening nine blitz was only 2 shots behind with 8 to play and carded a creditable 2nd round of 74.

The Nett event was won by local Angus Maclean (69,68) on a countback from Bendigo's Stan Davis (67,70) and Commonwealth's Adrian Rossi (66,71).

Helen Pascoe from Buninyong won the Ladies scratch stableford with a very creditable 68 points and Vera Lund from Buninyong won the handicap stableford with 69 points.

The weather was almost perfect and the course was in great condition ahead of next week's pro-am. The tees were generously forward and the greens slow which lent to some good scoring. The hospitality was good with a great 2 course lunch provided - hopefully a better field next year. Local member and Australian Amateur great Kevin Hartley was again on hand to hand out the trophies. Barry gave a gracious speech - appreciative of Kevin Hartley's presence, complimenting the event management and giving credit to Jeff Hasthorpe's consistent straight game.
