Greg Rhodes from Coomealla, the defending champion and Australia's number one Senior golfer, won this year's event by just one shot (78,72,81) from early leader John Davey from Tea Tee Gully South Australia (75,78,79). Fast finishing Ian Frost from Bendigo (80,79,74) was a further shot back with the round of the day 74.

The Nett event was taken out by David Taylor from Commonwealth (Nett 78, 75, 76) by 3 shots over Greg Gillard from Hawks Nest NSW (81,79,72) in a 4 way countback ahead of Wayne Evans of Royal Canberra, John Davey and local Michael Brash.

The courses were in great condition but the the greens were set up particularly hard and fast making low scores a challenge for the elite capacity field. On day one on the Composite course there were only 6 scores in the 70s and John Davey was the only player to shoot in the 70s for all 3 days. Melbourne turned on some of its renowned variety in weather with  highs of 33, 38 & 21 for the 3 days. Day 2 & 3 were windy but fortunately no rain was experienced.dscn0221 32379203315 o
