Mick Streit from Huntingdale won his first Bachli event, Yarra Yarra Senior Amateur, the opening round of the popular Sandbelt series. His 76 led Metropolitan's Paul Bray by 2 shots, with Guy Kralls 79 the only sub 80 scores.

Ignatius Duivenvoorden (nett 74) took out the Nett event by 1 shot from Castle Hill (NSW) Ross Manton and Paul Bray.

Although it was Mick Streit's first victory in a Bachli event, he recently represented Australia against the NZ seniors, and has performed well in National events.

The weather was kind with the forecast rain not eventuating but there was a good wind. The greens were particularly quick but the course was presented well and the good field, including many interstate visitors, only had positive comments.
