Gordon Claney started his 'Sandbelt' events with a successful defense of his Yarra Yarra title. His fine 74 was 2 ahead of John Neeson from Catalina Country Club with a further shot back to John Owen from Barwon Heads.
Stephen Pettyfor from Eastwood had an excellent Nett 70 to win the Nett by 2 shots over Rob Krekelberg from Trafalgar.
64 players, many from interstate, battled cold and damp conditions but the wind did not get up much and there were no heavy showers. The course was in improved condition.
