Stephen Valentine from The Kew Golf Club won the 2016 Tocumwal Senior Amateur title. His 78,73 beat last event's winner Kym Olsen from The National (79,73) by one shot on a count-back over last year's winner Chris Tatt from Buninyong (77,75). This was a great performance by Stephen playing off a 6 handicap in the final group, to beat the elite players Kym & Chris off +3 & scratch respectively. This was Stephen's first Seniors win although he was third in last year's Tocumwal event.

Stephen's acceptance speech indicated how genuinely excited, enthused and pleased he was to have won.

Brett McLellan from Drouin (74,64) won the Nett event 5 shots ahead of Stawell's Randal Bacon (70,73).

Heather Harley won the Women's stableford event and Helen Pascoe the scratch stableford event.

The event was played on the composite course in very trying cold and wintery conditions. The forecast weather caused a number of late withdrawals with a final field of 69 men & 12 women. After recent heavy rain the course was in relatively good condition but the cold, windy and sometimes wet conditions over the 2 days made scoring tough.DSC01209
