National20161Ian Frost (75,70,75) from Bendigo has won this year's National Masters Seniors beating local Simon Bracegirdle (69,75,76) in a playoff, after both were runners up last year. Stefan Albinski (72,76,74) finished third with the best third round of 74.

Simon Bracegirdle likened himself to Jordon Spieth in his post game speech and there were some similarities to the recent Masters event. SimonNational20161 led from day one and was 5 shots ahead with 9 holes to play. Ian finished par for the final nine holes to make the playoff; and he wore a Danny Willett like green shirt.

It was a tight match with Simon having a putt of about 6 feet for birdie putt on the difficult 18th that may have won him the event. Ian hit his drive on 18 well right but chipped his third well to have a putt of about 5 feet for par. After Simon missed his birdie putt Ian had his putt for the title but missed. Ian played a very solid extra hole to win the event.

Peter Bence (Nett 73,71,72) from Kingswood Peninsula won the Nett event by 1 shot ahead of Peter Good (76, 68, 73) from The Lakes on a countback over early leader and local Tony Briers (71, 69, 77).

Adrian Barr and The National Golf Club put on yet another great event and Adrian even organised the perfect weather. The event went like clockwork and all of the capacity field of 192 players walked away very happy, impressed by the efforts of the club including the very popular tournament dinner.
