DSC00425Another great Seniors event at Port Fairy and another clear victory to Gordon Claney from Kingston Heath with 2 par 72s to lead Mark Brasher from Kew (78, 73) by 7 shots. Gordon has finished a great year with his back to back Myne Classic wins, clearly winning the Bachli Trophy and also winning the Australian Senior Amateur Championship at Mandurah (WA) and representing Australia in Hong Kong.

The Nett event was a close contest with Gary House from Sanctuary Lakes (74, 69) winning on countback from Kerry Boehm from Rossdale (74, 69) with 8 players just 1 shot back on 144.

There was also a women's event - Helen Pascoe from Bunninyong a clear winner in the Gross event, Julie Taylor from Anglesea the Nett and Roslyn Black  of Rutherglen the Stableford event.

Before play commenced Pat Giles said a few words in memory of John Beaumont from Mount Gambier SA. He played in this year's Qld Seniors Championship in July but is recently deceased after a sudden illness. He was a frequent player at the Port Fairy Seniors and was a popular and well performed senior player on the Victorian and Australian circuit. He had won the Qld Senior Amateur and represented Australia. A minutes silence was observed before play.

Port Fairy had a capacity field and the club turned on good weather (with the expected wind!) and great hospitality. The tournament dinner was terrific and well supported as was the presentation lunch. You will need to get the entries in early next year to ensure you make the field.
