DSC00051Barry Tippett from 13th Beach has won the 5th National Senior Masters with 3 solid rounds of 75 to beat Kingston Heath's Gordon Claney and Ian McPherson from Joondalup by 2 shots. Barry is having a good year but was humbled to win the prestigious national event.

The Nett event was won by Trafalgar's John Hoare by one shot over Alan Buckley from Commonwealth and Trevor Hillier from Sanctuary Lakes. John opened with a fantastic nett 63 in round 1 and held the lead with solid rounds of 77 & 74.

Adrian Barr and The National staged another great event that was again praised by all. The event was a fantastic success in its first year and has somehow managed to continue to improve every year since. This year it was a challenge coping with the huge field of 193 players but it was handled like clockwork and the hospitality again second to none. Although the weather was not great, conditions were still relatively good for The National.

Of the first 6 players only one player had a handicap longer than scratch - local member and inaugural champion Tham Chin. It also looks promising for Victorians on the national stage with 4 Victorians in the first six including 3 up and comers in the Seniors ranks - Barry Tippett, Gordon Claney and Ian Frost.
