The inaugural Hidden Valley Seniors Amateur was won by Goonawarra’s Pat Giles, coming home with a best round 1 over par 74 to overtake the lead group and win the event by 1 shot (80, 74 total 154) over Rossdale’s Ken Obrien (79, 76).

The Nett event was won by Commonwealth’s Graham Bone with a Nett total 144 (70,74) by 1 shot over Yarrawonga’s John Wilson (74, 71).

The Women’s event was won by Seymour’s Dale Stewart with a great 40 points followed by 32 points to beat Hidden Valley’s Robyn Gallasch by 10 points.

The first round was played in occasional very light rain that became worse over the last few holes. The wind was mild for Hidden Valley and on the second day there was no rain.

There was only a small field for this first time event but much of the cause seems to have been the unpopular scheduled 8am start on day 2. There was a lot of positive feedback for the hidden gem, Hidden Valley’s Golf course.

Regular senior player Rossdale’s Brian Gray played the first round with first time Senior player local Hidden Valley member Damon Lutz. Turns out they were school friends and have not had any contact for over 52 years - neither played golf as a junior.
