The inaugural Kooringal Senior Amateur has been run and won. It was a great start to the new Doug Bachli Senior season – the weather was perfect, the course was in great condition and the club did an excellent job organizing the event – a resounding success. There were many positive comments from players about the course and the value for money – the 2 course lunch was excellent. There was a good field of 77 with 18 new faces and the field will no doubt be even better next year.

A bonus was the special guest speaker Kevin Hartley (a Kooringal member) a Victorian and Australian great Amateur golfer who enlightened the audience with facts and personal reminiscences about Doug Bachli as well as his own career.

The event was won by local member Bill Findlay playing in his first seniors event. It was a resounding win with 2 fine 72’s from Devil Bend’s Robert Burford with rounds of 75, 74. Although Bill Findlay off a 4 handicap also had the lowest Nett score the nett winner was Adrian Rossi from Commonwealth with rounds of 68, 70 ahead of Graeme Altmann from The Sands with rounds of 71, 68. The club also provided prizes for 2 age groups and new sponsor Callaway provided balls for a long ball run.

Special mention to regular John Hoare from Trafalgar who had a ‘day out’ on the Wednesday with a 78 off the stick – nett 61!kooringal2013
